As you know, globalization is the 3rd most important socio-economical transformation of the world just after the first appearance of agriculture and industry. We have rapidly suffered from all the negative effects of globalization in the pharmaceutical sector, as the mergers between the largest manufacturers and the creation of international distribution groups. A structural transformation of the pharmacies is now to be feared.
In this context, the existence of our cooperatives is a real advantage for the pharmacists that we are. Only our cooperatives can make it possible to invert this process into a dynamic devoted to the pharmacies own development. Our cooperatives act as valves on the pharmaceutical market. On the one hand, cooperatives are an obstacle to the negative evolutions and, on the other hand, they tend to be the driver on the market. Cooperatives’ profits are only spent in the interest of associated pharmacists. However the whole pharmacists’ population benefits from the competition led by cooperatives against the profit lead distribution groups. So we know that, in this period, being together is very important for the sake of our profession.
That's why we are a member of SECOF. This international organization makes us more powerful against global difficulties.
